DATES FOR YOUR DIARY

Qld Police Museum Tours and Talks and More
As so many of you have enjoyed what the Police Museum has to offer, the promotion for their events will continue on this page.  This will also include the tours and Sunday information sessions.
Thanks to the Curator of the Qld Police Museum for allowing us to promote the stories and events
They are free however, bookings are essential.
Some of the Articles have been included in our 'Topical' page

This is not a WRAAC organised event, and is open to anyone.

The Museum is located on the ground floor of the Police Headquarters, 100 Roma Street, Brisbane

and is open Monday to Thursday, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.

Kate Kyriacou, award-winning journalist, author and podcaster with The Courier-Mail will be at the Museum at 11am on Sunday the 26th of July as she revisits the cold case of Sharron Phillips.

Kate has been a print journalist for more than 20 years, working for newspapers in South Australia, Victoria and Queensland. She is a former Queensland journalist of the year and has covered some of the state’s most high-profile crimes. Her book, The Sting, was the inspiration for the feature film The Stranger and highlighted the work of Queensland police detectives and covert operatives. Kate was a member of the Walkley Judging Board and is a current judge with the Queensland media awards, the Clarions.

It is now 40 years since the story of missing Queensland woman Sharron Phillips dominated our newspapers and airwaves when she went missing from the busy Ipswich Motorway.

In 2017, more than 30 years after her disappeared, Queensland detectives wrote to the state coroner to say they finally believed they knew her killer.

But taxi driver Raymond Mulvihill will never be brought to justice.

On this 40th anniversary of Sharron’s murder, journalist Kate Kyriacou will talk about why the case had such an impact on Queenslanders.

Looking forward to welcoming you back (or perhaps for the first time!) at 11am in the PHQ Ground Floor Conference Room

The Women of Australia Memorial

The Memorial was designed to honour the women of Australia, both military and civilian, whom, through their dedication and courage, provided a significant contribution during all wars and conflicts.

The Memorial has two distinct components one honouring civilians and the second honouring female members of the various Defence Forces.

It is hoped that this memorial will remain as a permanent reminder of those who served our Nation and, in particular, honour those women who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
