Saturday 30th

This is a Memorial walk being held as an inaugural event to support the 42 for 42 Afghanistan Memorial Garden located in Brisbane. The garden commemorates the 41 veterans who were killed in action in Afghanistan. The number ‘42’ represents the veterans who have returned and succumbed to depression, post-traumatic stress and other mental health issues.
The Sub Branch in Gayndah is hosting the event as Jacob (Snowy) Moerland grew up in the town and his parents still live there. On returning from Afghanistan his mates supported the local town in commemorating ANZAC Day, and to this day his Engineer Regiment from Enoggera Barracks travel to the town and support his memory and the district.
There was interest from the Ex-Servicewomen and WRAAC Ladies to participate so I promised I would ask the Associations to please disseminate this through newsletters and Webpages when the information became available.
Could you please assist me with this. Myself and a couple of the WRAAC Ladies will be attending on the day to do our best to walk the 42kms. Love to have others join us.
Kind regards
Terrie-Ann Howard

The Women of Australia Memorial
The Memorial was designed to honour the women of Australia, both military and civilian, whom, through their dedication and courage, provided a significant contribution during all wars and conflicts.
The Memorial has two distinct components one honouring civilians and the second honouring female members of the various Defence Forces.
It is hoped that this memorial will remain as a permanent reminder of those who served our Nation and, in particular, honour those women who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
